Lament and promise harmonize into a memoir describing the re-birth of a warrior poised to teach all sons they can be loved. The collection revolves around a black man wanting to pass on life lessons to his son, while simultaneously lamenting that he does not want to bring a son into a world of racial violence and hate; and realizing that God sent His Son into the world to conquer these forces with sacrificial love.
